A Home Inspection is a inspection of all visible components and operation of normal operating controls such as switches, thermostats, and faucets. The home inspection is designed to give the home buyer a better understanding of the condition of the property, to try and expose costly repair items and/or safety hazards. It is in no way considered a technically exhaustive inspection although any problems or issues discovered during the inspection will give the home buyer the opportunity to bring in a specialist in the area of concern to investigate further.
So if it is a just visual inspection why should I have one? Some problems may be easily identified during a home inspection, but home inspectors are trained to look for symptoms of concealed problems such as water damage and cracks that could lead to problems with structure or foundations. A home inspection will better your odds of avoiding a costly repair down the road.
